Friday Free-From Favorites!

August 25, 2017

Woohoo, we've finally made it to another Friday! I have lots of good finds to share with you this week, so let's get started...

What I'm Buying

I don't have a good picture, but Kerrey (@k_rrey) and I have been eating a lot of gluten free ravioli from Valicenti Pasta lately. Valicenti Pasta usually has a stand at our local farmers' market, and it's just been too tempting to pass up the last few weeks! They have three gluten free flavors (all vegetarian, and all delicious): Lemon Basil & Ricotta, Truffled Wild Mushroom, and Moroccan Braised Carrot & Chickpea. Best of all, their gluten free ravioli is prepared in a separate area, so you can rest assured that it's safe for celiac consumption.

What I'm Making

If you've read some of my other posts, you may know that my cooking skills are pretty much nonexistent. But I did make a mean batch of nachos this week! When my pantry is empty or I'm running low on time, nachos are one of my favorite super-quick gluten free snacks, or dinners. I just take some gluten free corn tortilla chips, add a little salsa and cheese (sometimes olives if I have them on hand), and give it a minute or two in the microwave! And voila, dinner is served!

What I'm Reading

I've never really had the desire to travel to St. Louis, but this great post from A Southern Celiac made me think that maybe I should give it a try! Brittany's St. Louis travel guide is super comprehensive and filled with pictures of delicious dishes.

Where I'm Eating

I am a big fan of Beat Brasserie in Harvard Square - the vibe is really cool, kind of an old jazz club feeling, and there's often live music. They also have some good gluten free options marked on their menu! Usually I'm just there for drinks and apps, in which case I typically order their yummy nachos (can you tell from this post that I like nachos?), but Kerrey (@k_rrey) and I recently went for dinner and split a new gluten free addition to the menu: paella! I fell in love with paella while in Europe a few years ago, and I don't know many restaurants that serve it. Beat Brasserie's new paella dish was absolutely delicious, and the perfect size to split between two people. Ugh, doesn't it just look fantastic?

What I'm Planning

I don't have any trips planned in the near term, but I just booked a trip to Austin, Texas, for October and I'm hoping to travel to Arizona early next year! To be continued...

Have a great weekend, everyone!
